About
Ziad is the CEO and co-founder of BDI Group, a Holdco that invests primarily in the Engineering, Construction and Manufacturing Industries. In his current role he leads BDI’s vision of investing in great people and businesses, spending most of his time sourcing partnerships and driving growth across the affiliates.
He holds a Civil Engineering degree from UBC and an Executive MBA from Queen’s, and is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and Project Management Professional (PMP). His early career started as a Civil Engineer working on major infrastructure projects which shaped his ability to form and scale up high functioning teams. Shortly after that, he got his first taste of entrepreneurship by co-founding RAM Consulting in 2007 from his personal home along with his close university friend Joe DiPlacito. The two spent years leading the company which would go on become one of Canada’s fastest growing enterprises 3 years in a row. Ziad’s passion for business drove him to continue to co-found and acquire several companies and in 2022 was recognized as Top 40 Under 40 by Business in Vancouver.
Ziad sits on the board of all BDI companies, some that he acquired such as Durwest Construction in Victoria and Encepta Telecommunication; as well as others that he co-founded, including RAM Consulting, Quattro Constructors, Torus Talent, and TWK Restaurant.
Ziad is also chairman of the board for Smartpak Canada, a company he launched with a private investment group to hold the rights of EPAC in Canada. Since launching the first location in 2020 in BC, EPAC Canada saw huge success and has grown to $75M in revenue across three plants serving the west and eastern provinces. Ziad is active in the community through the Lebanese Canadian Society of BC and the Rotary Club of Vancouver and enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs. Outside of work, he spends time outdoors between Whistler, the Cariboo and traveling with his wife and two children.
